The Newspaper

Guardian is the student-run newspaper of Glasgow University, offering readers local, national and international news, features, and sport, as well as extensive coverage of film, music, lifestyle and the arts in our regular pull-out section, InSight. The paper is printed ten times per academic year, and is distributed across the whole of the GU campus, as well as numerous outlets in the West End, allowing both students and locals alike to keep up to date with news matters that affect those around the University.

Our 50 year history has witnessed the emergence of some top-class journalists, and has been rewarded with extensive recognition at both Scottish and British level, although we are always striving to improve the quality and depth of our coverage. Our staff consists of numerous section editors, reporters, contributors and photographers, all of whom are carefully chosen to ensure Guardian is the best it can be.

As a student-run organisation, Guardian relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff that write, photograph, and edit the publication, all of whom do so for no financial reward. Regardless, competition for places on staff is fierce – if you think you’ve got what it takes to produce great news copy, engaging sports reports, fantastic photography, or to contribute to the paper in any way, we would love to hear from you.
