Glasgow University’s Labour Club have this Friday announced their support for Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP in her campaign for selection as Scottish Labour’s candidate for the twinned constituencies of Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill/Glasgow Southside.
The club said on X/Twitter:
“We at Glasgow University Labour Club can proudly announce that we have unanimously voted to endorse Pam Duncan-Glancy for the twinned selection of Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill/Glasgow Southside.
“Pam has been a staunch ally not only to GULC but also to students and young people in Glasgow and beyond. Whether it’s supporting striking workers or battling for better student conditions, Pam has worked tirelessly for public good. She remains a kind, approachable and engaged public servant and we wish her all the best in her selection and hope to join her on the doors very soon!”
GULC’s support will mark the latest in a series of endorsements of Duncan-Glancy’s campaign for Scottish Labour’s selection in the 2026 Scottish election. These endorsements include the support of University of Glasgow Honourary Fellow Des McNulty, and the Scottish Young Labour group. Operating with a large student membership, SYL told The Glasgow Guardian they were “proud to back [Pam] in her campaign for selection and will campaign to see her re-elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2026 if selected.”
Having entered the political world in her student days, Duncan-Glancy was elected Welfare Officer at Stirling University and subsequently held a position on the National Union of Students’ Scottish executive committee. In 2021, she made history as the first permanent wheelchair user to be elected to the Scottish Parliament.
From her entrance into student politics to her current role as shadow Education Secretary, Duncan-Glancy’s involvement in student issues presents an obvious choice for GULC’s endorsement. The club stated “Pam has been a staunch ally not only to GULC but also to students and young people in Glasgow and beyond.”
If successful, the regional MSP will be campaigning for election to the 2026 Scottish parliament, and will hope to hold a constituency seat for the first time.

“I started my political journey in student politics and as a Labour student.
“Students have led the way in our movement for years and I’m delighted to have the support of the Glasgow University Labour Club as the Scottish Labour candidate for the twinned seats of Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill and Glasgow Southside.
“GU Labour Club is a hardworking student society, and is key to our Labour movement, both now and in future”.
