An insight into the FIFA World Cup 2026 Draw.
Tonight, Scotland faced the official FIFA World Cup Draw taking place at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C conducted by Rio Ferdinand. It revealed which opponents all 48 worldwide teams will face throughout the beginning group stage. For Scotland, this was an important night. Coming into the first World Cup since 1998, the nation was hoping for an ideal group. In the end, Scotland saw 5-time world cup winners alongside returning competition teams.
After a back-and-forth draw from assisting sports icons, Tom Brady, Shaquille O’Neal, Wayne Gretzky, and Aaron Judge, Scotland will prepare to face Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti. Scotland will face Brazil on 24 June after their opening match against Haiti earlier in the tournament — a promising start for the Scottish side for a strong potential to get three points on the board.
Despite knowing which countries Scotland will face, the Tartan Army will have to hold off until tomorrow night to book their flights and accommodation, since at 5pm on 6 December, FIFA will announce the venues and kick-off times for each competing nation. What we do know, however, is that Scotland will play all of their matches on the North American East Coast, all within the USA.
This is an exciting opportunity for the entire country of Scotland, following the team as they take their place on the world stage. From Scotland to the States, the Tartan Army has an exciting summer ahead of them.
