Glasgow University have taken home the Taxis Cup for the fifth consecutive year, after an nail-biting competition today. With Strathclyde hot on their heels in every event, Glasgow had to battle to clinch the victory by just one point. With Strathclyde emerging victorious in the athletics, tennis and rugby, for a while it looked as though the coveted trophy would soon be snatched from the returning champions, but Glasgow came out on top, proving that they aren’t ready to give up their title just yet.

In a packed Emirates Arena at the conclusion of the day, there was certainly plenty of support for the teams, with Glasgow University’s Senior Vice Principal Neal Juster saying after Glasgow were announced as winners that “I would like to congratulate everyone for all of the hard work they have put in. Their success is well deserved. The Taxis Cup is getting better and better each year”.

Stephen Flynn, vice-chairman of Glasgow Taxis was there to present the awards, and confirmed that the company will continue to provide sponsorship to the event until 2018.
