The emergency services were called to the Joseph Black Building this afternoon after an incident in a chemical laboratory which led to a student being taken ill.
The nature of the incident is unclear, but several fire engines, ambulances and police cars were on the scene outside the building along with an environmental protection unit.
A spokesman for the University of Glasgow said: ‘We can confirm that following an incident at one of our chemical laboratories a student was taken unwell. Emergency services involving fire, paramedics and police were called to the scene, but the student has since recovered and has not required any additional treatment. The exact nature and cause of the incident are being investigated.’
