The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) has announced changes to the funding it offers to postgraduate students from 2017/18.

Scottish domiciled students studying on eligible one year full time taught programmes will now be entitled to claim loans of up to £10,000.

The funding package comprises of a tuition fee loan of up to £5,500 and a non means tested living cost loan of £4,500.

Students studying on a part time basis on eligible courses can apply for tuition fees of up to £2,750 a year.

SAAS said that the funding “is being extended to include eligible students on taught Masters programmes. Previously, funding was limited to a certain number of Diploma courses.”

The agency has assured EU students that postgraduate tuition fee loans will be available to those on full time and part time courses beginning in 2017/18.

English students are eligible for postgraduate loans of up to £10,000 from Student Finance England.
