This evening the results for the Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA) election were announced.

Outgoing Vice President Isabella Heath has been elected as President, beating fellow candidate Liam Roberts for the position. Last year’s Health and Fitness Convenor Paddy Everingham has also beaten rival candidate Sally Bell for the position of Vice President, and Gemma Adair has been elected uncontested as Secretary.

Current GUSA President Ruari Thomson said: “I think it’s a great result- I’m delighted. The attendance tonight shows great engagement, more people are getting involved and I think it’s the highest ever turnout which is tremendous. It’s great to see everyone get so involved in sport.”

I have mixed emotions about stepping down, I still have a few months left so I’m not quite ready to say goodbye. However I’m really happy to hand it over to such a great successor, I’ve seen Isabella’s manifesto and I think she’ll do a great job.”
