As part of Raising and Giving (RAG) week, all university library fines paid on Monday 13 March will be donated to the Scottish Book Trust.

The Scottish Book trust is a charity that works with teachers and parents to help children engage with reading and writing. The charity mission statement claims: “A love of reading inspires creativity, improves employment opportunities, mental health and wellbeing, and is one of the most effective ways to help children escape the poverty cycle.”

In addition to donating library fines, various other events will take on campus for a number of charities including the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event to raise funds for Rape Crisis Scotland on 14 March, starting at the University Main Gate at 2pm.

A litter collection will take place on the same day.

Another event will feature alpacas on campus to raise funds for Pets as Therapy on March 16 from 10:30am until 2pm. The event offers the company of alpacas to students who need to “de-stress”. The exact location of this event is yet to be announced.
