Jeff Goldblum and his band are set to play The Theatre Royal for a Summer show, just days before the release of their fourth album.
Jeff Goldblum may be the coolest man on the planet, which makes the announcement that he’s coming to Glasgow with his band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra all that more exciting. He is a wildly unique individual, known for his acting in incredible films such as ‘The Fly’ (1986), ‘Jurassic Park’ (1993), ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ (2014) and most recently, the ‘Wicked’ franchise (2024-2025). However, he started playing music decades ago and particularly in the last decade, alongside acting, he has carved out a successful career with his band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, which has seen him predominantly as a piano player accompanying a wide variety of guest singers such as: Imelda May, Miley Cyrus and Scarlett Johansson. Although, he does sing from time to time and when he does, it’s a treat, such as on ‘Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye’ from their last album Still Blooming (2025). His albums feature mostly covers injected with some orchestral flair and sit comfortably in the Jazz and Lounge categories and as songs, they are the perfect kind for when you need a moment to decompress.
In terms of what makes Goldblum unique, he has an interesting manner about him, to the extent that every word he utters and the way he strings a sentence together is unpredictable and instantly entertaining. Every television appearance or podcast he has appeared on; he is smiling and can take the conversation anywhere. He often has a glint in his eye which I’ve always thought showed he was close to a mischievous trickster, always seemingly fascinated with people and life. I’m sure he is the sort of person that could make any conversation interesting and exciting, see his relatively short-lived series, ‘The World According to Jeff Goldblum’ (2019-2022), and brilliant appearances on the podcast ‘Conan O’ Brien Needs a Friend’ (2018-) for proof of this, and so he is sure to be a great showman and host for one (very likely brilliant) night of your life.
Trying to quantify a Jeff Goldblum concert is no mean feat, but you could expect a hitlist of relaxing and emotional songs with one of the coolest men going (just look at his fashion sense and you’ll understand why I would call him this) when he and his band play the Theatre Royal on the 1st of June. It will also be worth seeing as his fourth album, Night Blooms (2026), releases four days later, so perhaps we will be treated to a new song or two. Also, as doors open at half Seven on a weekday in June, I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer evening as I have found his music to both transport me to an era I wasn’t born in and to ease any anxieties. Watching footage of him play, it’s clear he is having the time of his life and he himself also looks to be transported somewhere magical. If he can share around just a little bit of that magic, he carries around with him, the night should be truly joyous.
