Police discover body identified as missing Glasgow student Timothy Chiwaula

The body was discovered near Glasgow Green in the early hours of Friday morning.

Greater Glasgow Police have identified the body of missing student Timothy Chiwaula.

Around 4am on Friday 22 October police were called after the body of a man was discovered in the water next to Glasgow Green.

The deceased has been formally identified as Timothy Chiwaula, 23, who had been reported missing from the Glasgow area, and was last seen in the city’s Old Shettleston Road around 8.45pm on Monday 11 October. His family has been informed about the discovery.

The Police report no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, though the reasons for his disappearance are still unknown and under investigation. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. 

Timothy was a BA Acting student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). The RCS tweeted a statement from its principal, Professor Jeffrey Sharkey, which reads: “Within our community, Tim was known as a young man of warmth and great potential. He will be missed very much. This is a close-knit community and our focus now is ensuring our students and staff are supported as we all come to terms with this terrible news.”
