Police call for witnesses after woman assaulted on Kelvin Way

The 21-year-old victim was assaulted around 3.55am on Saturday 18 December.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 21-year-old woman was assaulted on Kelvin Way at around 3.55am on the morning of Saturday 18 December. The victim suffered minor injuries after being approached from behind by the attacker.

The suspect is described by Police Scotland as male, mid-50s, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short grey hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans. After the assault the suspect headed towards Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street on foot. 

Detective Inspector Darren Munogee of Cathcart CID stated: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and despite it happening in the early hours of the morning, we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have seen the victim or suspect immediately prior to, or after, the assault.

“I would like to reassure the local community that officers will be conducting additional patrols in the area throughout the investigation.”

This incident happened as Daft Friday was going on in the nearby Glasgow University Union. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0689 of 18 December 2021.
